I am in debt to a finance company for a car and I need a little help please.?
My debt will be 6 years old May 1st 2009.
I am a homeowner, jointly with my wife. We own our home outright, we never had a mortgage as we paid cash in full.
I borrowed money from a finance company to purchase a car but this was years before I met my wife. We have only been married two years and have know one another three years.
Can my wife be held liable for my debt? Can we be forced through a county court to sell our house to pay back this debt?
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.
I’d like to add I am based in the UK and am a British resident.
Advice on car finance…?
I bought a vauxhall tigra last week using car finance.
Whilst sitting in the forecourt an employee of the car company drove into the car. There didnt appear to eb any damage to the car,so I drove home.
However, I have had a mechanic look over the car and there are several repairs that need to be carried out on the car, one or two appear to be the result of the employee hitting my car. I have phoned the car salesman regarding the repairs and he said that if I bring the car in "he will see what he can do". If he does not carry out the necessary repairs on the car, where do i stand with regards to telling them to take the car back and claiming back any money I have already paid? I have only had the car 7 days and am taking it to the garage tomorrow morning.
I would just like to know where I stand in regards to this. Any help would be appreciated.
I have contacted the garage to fix the repairs caused by the guy hitting it. There are a few other problems with he car tho, which are nothing to do with him hitting the car, such as a minor oil leak and a tyre which has tread which is borderline legal and no spare tyre.
I got a 30 day warranty with the car, but want to know if they refuse to repair the other repairs, am I within my rights to hand the car back, or not?
Can’t get onto Yahoo finance?
Hi there. I have a bit of a problem getting on to Yahoo Finance. Whatever method I use to go to the site, the browser just hangs for a few minutes until I get a timeout message. I run three browsers IE, Firefox & Opera – this happens on all of them. I can get in OK using my works Laptop (in my home wireless network) so I can only think this may be something to do with Norton 360, which I have installed on my PC. There is no other website whatsoever that I have the same trouble accessing. Has anyone else come across this problem? Is it likely some kind of config issue? Any help would be very much appreciated.
welcom finance?
I have a big concern regarding welcome finance oldham branch and u can car credit rochdale branch. I bought a car from ucan car credit (car craft) in rochdale on the 19/02/08 we said we didn’t want any insurance with the car, the sales man really went on and on about having it. We had sorted part ex for my car which was £600. We decided we didn’t want to go through with it because of the incuranes, he wouldn’t give me my keys back for my car. In between all this we had a phone call to say my daughter had taken ill . The only way was to sign for the car so we could go home to sort her out. The day after i read the agreement only to realise we only got £250 for my car and we had signed for the insurances.I phoned u can up and they said they would sort it out i kept ringing only to hit a brick wall every time.In the contract it stated we had 30 days to cancel the insurances so i wrote to welcome finance in oldham and there head office who had financed the car cancelling the insurances within the 30 day period and I sent it by registered post on the 20/02/08. I then rang a week later and spoke to a man called Aaron in the oldham branch he said they have received it and it will take 6 weeks to cancel,i rang them again on the 6/05/08 to see why it hasn’t been cancelled they said they didn’t know nothing about it and i would probably have to write again but its now out of the 30 day period. ive checked on the post office web site and the letter was received by them on the 22/02/08 a M feeney signed for the letter.I was told if they cant find the letter there isn’t much they can do.Also they said if they do find the letter all the money for insurances would go towards the car but in the contract it states i would be entitled to a full refund.I would be grateful if any body could help as i dont know what to do.

I just found out my car has outstanding finance on it!!!!?
I recently found out that my car has outstanding finance on it, Ive contacted 3 previous owners who say they were un-aware. The history is the car was taken on finance by a Polish guy who then went back home leaving the car parked in a no parking zone, the vehicle got towed away by a clamping firm registered it in the company name and they sold it after 6 months of non collection, the new owner had for around 3 months n sold it after loosing his job, the next owner had it for at least 10 months then sold it to me, what do i do, its been through 3 owners, all denying they know, im sure the clamping company knew but i cant prove that as i didnt buy it from them.
Somebody told me because its gone through many hand (owners) Im the 4th they (finance company) cant repossess it off me. WHat do i do, do i contact them and ask im scared there take it away from me, i saved £3000 to pay for it and cant afford to offer them any money. Please help and advise

Car Finance Guarantor – Help?
hi All,
I wonder if someone could offer any advice. My sister purchased a car about 9 months ago and took out finance on it. She managed to persuade my mum to go guarantor on the payments (as she has a poor credit history). She bounced the first payment so the finance company called my mum and she immediately got the Direct Debit put through her bank account to ensure the money went out every month.
However, since then, my sister (who lives at home and is turning in to more of an adult brat by the day) has not met one payment and my mum has had to pay the finance every month (my mum pays everything on time and the thought of having a payment that she’s even partly responsible for being missed would fill her with horror). However, she has retained full use of the car despite not paying a penny for it.
Question is, is there anything my mum can do? Will the finance company let her sell the car? I’m not sure as my sister is the registered owner and keeper?
thanks
But as the car is registered with DVLA in my sister’s name, surely the car is legally hers and my mum can’t just take the keys? That’s what my sister keeps saying anyway.
Personally, I’d buy a clamp and put it on the wheels to stop her driving it until she starts paying up!
Can I receive finance doing a listance learning course?
I want to take a course in Psychology which will end up with me having a degree.
I was wondering if there is any forms of finance available for me to pay for the course?
I know that when going to University you receive student finance for rent, education etc but as ill be working from home I don’t know if there is any finance options available.
I live in the UK so I’ll need advice and info for the U.K. Im only saying this as I know a lot of people use this site from around the world.
Thanks in advance! x
