I have been declined student finance due to a 7 day shortfall on the 3 year ordinary residence requirement?
I am a British citizen who left at the age of 3 with my parents in 1984, I returned to the UK 7 September 2006. I have applied for student finance with my LEA, however I have been declined due to the fact that I do not meet the 3 year ordinary residence requirement by 7 days. I have challenged this as I feel I may qualify due to dual habitual residence as I had secured a rental property on the 30 August and the rent I paid was from 1st September and I secured the property with the sole purpose being to resettle and not for education. They have stated that I do not qualify under dual habitual residence… has anyone else experienced this problem and successfully overturned it or do you know of any way to get around this?
