International Aid, isn’t it time we just stopped giving away billions of taxpayers money every year?
I’m talking here about the billions we routinely give to many middle eastern countrys every year, the millions to Europe, etc.
I know that some people will say that some country’s need help and financing to get back on their feet/deal with their problems, etc. But we have been giving out aid for years to many countries, first of all I don’t believe that much of the aid actually goes to where it is needed, secondly why should it be our responsibility to do it? It is time many of these countrys start to deal with their own problems, and Europe doesn’t deserve a damn penny anyway.
It is time we take these billions of pounds we give away each year and put it back into our own country. Cut taxes massively for a start, because theres obviously too much pouring into the coffers, put some into the economy, invest in renewable energy sources such as a massive wind/hydro electric farm in the irish channel or north sea, etc. And just imagine how many soldiers/police/doctors/nurses/firefighters
and teachers that money could hire every year.
I’m sure you could all think of areas that money could be better spent in this country, but I just think its time we started looking after ourselves now. I’m sick of paying for everyone else.
Brian that is why I suggested an immediate cut in taxes too.
Press conference an environmental and financial emergency
The Greens held a press conference during the event with the French presidency of the EU. They stressed the link between the growing environmental emergency – headline topic of their public debate – and the current crisis in the global financial sector.
US citizen apllying for UK student loan?
I’m trying to find out about any alternatives to simply applying for an American student loan to finance a university course studying international journalism here in London, England for my American fiancee. I know if you live in Europe you can apply for an English student loan, but not if you live outside the EU. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get around having to take out an American loan? Possibly such as a student exchange or something? We are planning to get married soon and I’m English, will this help or even me being a guarantor? All suggestions are very welcome!
Will England end up like Scotland producing no home talent?
When finances begin to get tight at clubs, two of the first things to suffer, are reserve football and any youth team initiatives. Unlike the rest of Europe where these are a priority.
Will we look back at the state of our game and wish that we had done something about it earlier?
Me.
I bet I earn thousands more than you pal, in the city, you hard up boy.

Football, just a hobby? 40 years at Upton Park, 20 years going home and away to all games. 30 years over Essex, how often do you go to either? I Played to a fairly high standard too, have you?
At least West Ham have had the loyalist and hardest supporters in the country. I bet you didn't come down the East End in the 70's and 80's? The good old days.

MSc Finance and Investment – Bristol vs Edinburgh?
Hi there,
I currently have offers to study MSc Finance and Investment at either Bristol or Edinburgh but I am having trouble deciding on which offer to take.
As far as I know, Edinburgh appears to have the better course and has links with the financial sector in Scotland for job or internship opportunities.
Bristol has a relatively similar course but does not appear to have any links with any specific companies for any for job or internship opportunities.
I don't really understand why, but I have heard that it may be better to hold a postgraduate degree from an English university if I plan to work in London, Europe or even Asia. This is probably what is causing me to hesitate and lead to me choosing Bristol over Edinburgh which would be a shame as Edinburgh really does seem to have the better course.
I would really appreciate it if anyone could provide me with any suggestions, advice or additional information to assist me in my decision.
Cheers.
