What’s the best way to invest £40,000.?
I want to invest in property and other things but after researching various options am still unsure and really indecisive. Finance is far from my forte so any guidance wold be appreciated. Even if somebody knows a really great impartial financial advisor and not one that is just pushing their own agenda!!!

Local council trying to make me pay council tax on a property I rented out eight years ago?
I rented my house to a man 8 years ago.He hasn't paid council tax since moving in and has run up thousands of pounds of rent arrears in the 8 years.He has now disappeared and local council have now made me liable for the tax. They have told me I should appeal to the Valuation Tribunal via them. I am panicking as I cannot pay the very substatial sum being demanded and I don't want bailiffs calling.Legal Aid is not available in these cases and solicitors fees are outside my finances.The council have made numerous fully documented errors but will not act to rectify their mistakes.Any sensible suggestions regarding UK internet sites for advice/guidance would be appreciated.Anybody had similar experiences?
