car finance and cars returned?
Husband had a car on a 3 year contract with 3 opptions at the end of the term 1 buy 2 return 3 part exchange for new . He returned the car in Nov 2007 at the end of the 3 years but owed £900 arreas this he agreed to pay but the company refused. The car was then left at our property for a further 4 months with no contact from the finance company.Eventually the car was collected in march 08 but was not sold till Nov 08. Now he has been contact with regards to paying the outstanding balance are the finance company in the right
Is ther a time limit to when the finance company can sell the car as we feel 12 months is a long time in a cars life.
Also they have agreed they made a mistake with the length of time it took to collect the car
The arrears were due to miss monthly payments which he agree to pay back in a sum of 700 & 200 but they turned this down
He handed the car back under Renaults terms of 3 years. The car was taken back with as far as we know no issues the mileage was low. He has been given a cap value but we have not been told when this was based on as the car was not sold for 12 montrhs and it is the value the car sold for and this cap value which has produced the outstanding amonut now owed. But we want to know how long these companies can keep a returned car before selling it
Is this a buyer’s game or is this all they have?
We are selling our property at a fixed price, already placed competitively low on the valuation scale. We’ve had good interest and a buyer came to see the property twice over the weekend. He really loved it but spent a long time telling us all about his finances and how he wasn’t sure about how mortgage he could get etc etc. We told him that the fixed price was the fixed price and we couldn’t go lower, it was obvious he wanted to. We got an offer in through our solicitor and it was 5%, about £7000, under. We’ve rejected it but are wondering if he will come back. Is this the common game of buyers – I’ve only ever bought at fixed and have always paid the price as opposed to bargained, so I don’t really know.
Should the bankers be jailed?
The world of finance which affects each and everyone of us is in turmoil and yet the people responsible for this horrendous mess stay untouched.
As the international banking and finance business is protected by governments in a way that no other business is, shouldn’t the people who run these businesses have to be more responsible for their actions.
It may make them behave more resonsibly if they knew that they would go to jail for a long time should their businesses go belly up because of their mismanagement and greed.
