which government department is investigating three councils. uk. +contact details please.?

I heard on the radio that the government was investigating three councils over their finances. One of the councils being Uttlesford, which has just made me homeless through their incompetence. (although they were offering £20,000 to vacate the property, so not that incompetent). I would really like to tell the department so they have some idea what goes on, though the council were a million pounds in debt last year, and it feels like they want me to pay it (well some of it!). Thanks for any help.
