Hire Purchase advice?

with one comment

Hi

im looking for a bit of advice.

I had a car on hire purchase from 2005 until 2008. I had the car 3 years and after the 3 years were up i was able to hand the car back without paying any further payments. I handed the car back to the garage and i got a new car.

The hire purchase agreement i had from 2005-2008 was signed over to the car garage and they paid the outstanding balance for the car to the finanace company.

I received a letter over the weekend from said finance company stating ther was a balance of £278.96 outstanding on the agreement and i had to pay it.

where do i stand with this? As far as i was aware i signed over the agreement to the car garage making them liable for any outstanding payments.

Also i moved house, this finance company have somehow tracked down my new address and stored the details on their system without my consent – can they do this?

I handed my old car back on 31st May 2008, thats when the agreement was signed over to the car dealership, they then obtained the settlement figure and paid it off.

It is now 15 months later and i have been contacted by the finance company being told there is an outstanding balance to be paid.

Can anybody advise me on what i should do as i dont believe i am responsible for the agreement any longer as it was signed over to the garage who paid the settlement figure.

i was at my previous property for 9 months after the agreement was signed over to the garage and i had no communication from the finance company, after i moved i put a forwarding on all my mail to another address and i had no mail from the finance company, now 15 months after signing the agreement over they are contacting me and asking me to pay an outstanding balance?

Sorry if thats a bit confusing, i live in Scotland by the way !

Thanks for advice you can give me.

Why don’t women have any general knowledge? Why don’t they care about what is going on in the world?

I spoke to a woman recently (no, really). She has a "Masters" in some useless arts subject. Anyway we were talking about remembrance day, poppies etc. And she thought the Somme was a battle between England and Scotland…

MSc Finance and Investment – Bristol vs Edinburgh?

with one comment

Hi there,

I currently have offers to study MSc Finance and Investment at either Bristol or Edinburgh but I am having trouble deciding on which offer to take.

As far as I know, Edinburgh appears to have the better course and has links with the financial sector in Scotland for job or internship opportunities.

Bristol has a relatively similar course but does not appear to have any links with any specific companies for any for job or internship opportunities.

I don't really understand why, but I have heard that it may be better to hold a postgraduate degree from an English university if I plan to work in London, Europe or even Asia. This is probably what is causing me to hesitate and lead to me choosing Bristol over Edinburgh which would be a shame as Edinburgh really does seem to have the better course.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could provide me with any suggestions, advice or additional information to assist me in my decision.

Cheers.
