Some housing loans don't require a down payment.... Have you met with a realtor? They will sit down with you and explain what/if any of your options are...most will make an effort to really help you. A house versus an another apartment might be the best route. (??) Rent in this area is insane...I know a couple of people that pay way more in rent per month than I do on our home mortgage. And if it's your first time buying a house... you might be able to get that $8,000 tax credit. Good luck!
